Is she alive?
Synopsis
The peace of Christmas falls over the small town, but at the Christmas market there is a frenzy of activity. Mariann discovers a teddy bear on the top shelf. Mariann must get the teddy bear no matter what. But Teddy wants to get to a rich family. I like the movie Teddy’s Christmas because Teddy’s character (Zachary Levi) makes me laugh and so does the hedgehog, Bolla (Lene Kongsvik Johansen), when they are trapped together in the basement learning to cuddle. I like how the movie feels like it’s from an older era.
It’s very seasonal
As soon as you see the snow and the decorations, you know it’s Christmas. The plot is about a teddy bear who can talk. Marianne goes into town to buy an almond and ends up playing a carnival game where she sees Teddy move, so she tries to win, and wins! Teddy moves the wheel because he wants to go with someone who has more money than her. She goes home to get another coin to play again, but before she can get back, another man wins Teddy. She goes and tries to find the man but fails.
It’s a great musical moment
I love Teddy’s character and I also liked the close relationship between Marianne (Marte Klerck-Nilssen) and her brother. You can tell they love each other. The plot has unexpected events and is adventurous. Marianne definitely has a big imagination and I wish I had a big imagination like hers. My favorite part is when Teddy and the hedgehog are in the basement and then the hedgehog starts singing and dancing. She does a lot of dances and waves her arms around nonsensically while trying to get Teddy to snuggle.
I got used to it pretty quickly
I love how when she dances it seems like she’s inventing her own language. I also like when her grandfather comes into the room in a Santa costume and pretends to be the real Santa. He delivers presents and then Marianne walks up to him and asks if it was him. He says, “yes, but don’t tell anyone.” She must be extremely intelligent to have figured that out! The movie was made in Norway and it’s interesting to see all their different traditions and foods. At first, I was distracted because the words they were saying didn’t match the actors’ mouth movements, but then I realized it was because the actors were speaking a different language.
This movie hits theaters December 1, 2023
The message of the movie is to appreciate who you are and what you have. Teddy wants to be someone he’s not and go places he can’t, and he’s not happy until he realizes he’s already in a great place. He was made to be hugged, and now he has a whole family to hug. I give Teddy’s Christmas 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to kids ages 5-8, as well as adults. By Avalynn G., KIDS FIRST!
